On 28th October, 2008, five poets gathered in a pub on a surprisingly snowy night to discuss the promotion of poetry and spoken word to a wider audience.

Tongue in Chic was the offspring of that meeting and the general aims can be described as:

• To provide a regular friendly and enthusiastic platform for writers and
  performers to showcase their work in Milton Keynes.
• To promote poetry and spoken word and encourage wider engagement and participation in the community.
• To support the other excellent writing and performing initiatives in Milton Keynes.
• To bring Poets and Artists to Milton Keynes to perform.
• To encourage Milton Keynes writers and performers to use Tongue in Chic as a base to launch from, to be heard in other locations and venues.
• In the fullness of time, extending our influence to Northampton, Bedford and Luton?
